Birding Western Yucatan

Southern Mexico

Celestun Biosphere Reserve, is home of the American Flamingo and over 300 birds species among residents, migratory and endemics. Here you will find great combination of different habitats like Tropical Forest, Mangrove Forest and Sand Dune vegetation where you will be able to see tropical birds, water birds and shorebirds.

An outstanding opportunity for a quick trip to tropics for some spectacular coastal birding.  Celestun is strategically located as one of the first land masses for migrating birds as they cross the Gulf of Mexico.  David Bacab is one of the most well-known and respected birding guides in Southern Mexico and is our host and organizer. A Celestun native, this David's home turf and knows where and when to find the showcase endemic species.
